How Does a Eunuch Go to the Bathroom?

The term eunuch refers to a male who has been castrated by removing the balls surgically. So, how does a eunuch go to the bathroom? Eunuchs would urinate as normal through their male organs. Even in this day and age, that would be the primary means for the majority of the cases. But from a historical perspective, eunuchs had many variations.

For instance, quite a few cultures would remove the entire male organ. As a result, a tube such as bamboo would be stuck into the opening to aid in passing urine until the male healed. Once they fully heal, they would urinate the same way as females by squatting.

Types of Eunuchs

There are two types of eunuchs. Some just have one of their balls removed and still urinate like any man. But some have their entire male sexual organs cut off (both the balls and the pipe). The first type of eunuchs can still urinate like any other man once healed. But the second type will have to sit down on a toilet or squat to urinate as though they were women.

How Did Ancient Eunuchs Go to the Toilet?

Eunuchs are a group that is fairly large in our country. Eunuchs primarily take care of the Emperor and his people; their responsibility is to take care of their master. Unfortunately, once their manhood is chopped off, eunuchs can no longer control themselves to pee. Because of that, they are very often embarrassed to pee on their pants. Eunuchs with good status can easily change their pants, but those with low status cannot do that often. Many unpleasant odors can cause people to become very uncomfortable around such eunuchs.

It is very common for eunuchs to use the toilet while squatting or sitting while peeing. If they stood up to pee, they would probably splash everywhere. Sometimes it is better for them to sit down and pee than to use a handkerchief to help direct the pee and prevent splashing around.

Chronic Urinary Retention in Eunuchs

Eunuchs are not feisty and only seek medical attention when they are distressed by their symptoms. There is no scientific publication that describes the medical problems of eunuchs owing to the difficulty of accessing the community and their reluctance to seek medical help. In a study conducted over a period of three years, scientists evaluated four male eunuchs who had persistent urination because of urethral stenosis caused by the wrong method of removing their organs. Though treatment of this problem is very simple, the traditional method of amputation (castration) and penectomy (decompression) practiced in Indian eunuchs can lead to urethral stenosis.

Wrapping Up

Generally speaking, eunuchs squat or sit down on a toilet to urinate. It is likely that both the pipe and the balls were removed, making it necessary to practice female bathroom etiquettes. However, some eunuchs carry silver quills to enable them to self-catheterize, while others use a removable plug to prevent unnecessary splashes when peeing.
